Topic: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

Howdy,

We own a car shop and we took in a car for repairs and the owner didnt pay the balance of $440. We have since filed lein and recovered the title through the state, otherwise known as a 'sheriff's title'.

Assuming the owner still never shows his face again and sells it outright to us, would the $440 in parts and labor be an acceptable determination of cost?

Re: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

If the honorable judges say yes... this could be a hell of a contender... but honestly... I would flip it and find something LeMon worthy...

That car seems to be in good condition.

Well it wont pass emissions, so that makes it a dead-ender here in utah.

What year is it?

I would have to agree with Riktor, find something a little more LeMon worthy.  If this is your only option, email Jay off board and he'll say yay or nay.  Car looks sharp though...  Almost too pretty for Lemons.

We are the people your parents warned you about.

Re: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

There have been plenty of Z31's, even turdblowers.

In my opinion it's a parts car along with all other Z31's and many 280ZX's.

For real clarification on the car, contact Jay or Nick like others have mentioned.

NOok, where is this car? Me and the boys can come over and definitely make it lemon.
We just need 5 minutes and it will be ready. In fact you may have to spend a little more dough to get it back into running condition.:D

Yeah but you have a good number of import tuners that love these cars for engine swaps and big ass turbos. Might net around $1500-$2000 with one of them.

Re: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

That's a 1984 50th Anniversary 300ZX turbo.  One of 5,000 made.  Unfortunately (or fortunately as a Lemons racer) the Z31 is the Black Sheep of the Z line so is worth the least.

Although the car itself is not of great value, there are several items on that car that you could sell (if in good condition) so that there would be no question that it's value was below $500.00.  The rear fender flares, side skirts, mirrored tops, floor mats, body sonic seats, gold key and black toneau cover are all unique to that car and can fetch anywhere from $200.00 to $1,000+ depending on the condition.

Maybe it was just Alaska, where I was stationed but the locals LOVED these cars. One kid in particular. He paid $3k and his WAS Lemons worthy...

I see what you did there.  Your car was the black #z31 with the rising sun graphic down the sides, yes?  That car looked almost too nice to lemonize.

Yep, that was us and thanks for the props.

From 10 feet away our car looks great.  When you get up close, though, you can see where the frame and floorboards are eaten up with rust.  It's not to the point of being unsafe, but it won't be long.

Re: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

I think you can go on the $440 with a straight face. I'd buy that story if I were a judge....

And I don't know why you WOULDN'T LeMonize that baby!

Re: Clarification of vehicle cost rule??

Fill the trunk of that car with liquor and porn, and those judges will look other way.  run that roach!
