He was well on his way for several "driving like a jackass" black flags. He was the one who knocked the mirror over a couple turns earlier. He played bumper cars, and it turned out bad for him.

so if someone taps you it gives you an absolute right to be a complete NDA and refuse to look over your shoulder in your miata and run right into someone?

besides isn't this wheel to wheel?  besides the looking over your shoulder, you should know whos around you anyways, if he "just knocked off your mirror" you should've known he was somewhere back there then.

did you have a radio?  radio your team if he was truly such a terrible on-track horror and danger to everyones lives/fun maybe you should've gotten on the radio and ask race control to keep an eye on this ticking time bomb, who knows, maybe with your help you could've saved the irs from angry tax cheaters too...

also this is Lemons, saying he was stupid for having his wheels stick out is so counter-productive to all things lemony, we're racing $500 cars, do you really think people aren't goin to show up with the cheapest wheels possible that may not be the perfect offset?  i myself am having a lot of fun with this $500 rule, and am trying to keep the whole car under $500 except consumables (which i've somehow pulled off), i'm not putting wheels on that car unless they are free or already laying around, especially when i know there are 122 other possible idiots in black miatas who don't know how to look over their shoulder.  i got 6 laps in the mustang II and had at least 5-6 cars come down on me in a corner due to NDA's not looking around, plus how many cars actually have mirrors all the way around?  theres going to be contact, and a lot of people look at it as "i dont want to spend money on wheels that will break".  remember some people are out to have fun, not spend 1/2 the price of the car on the lightest wheel from team dynamics etc so they can win, we're racing crap cans, how some of you people build some absolutely boring $500 car and then go on to spend thousands on brakes/wheels/tires blows my mind, go buy some crap at a junkyard, since its Lemons offset is normally an afterthought, and theres no reason to penalize someone for being cheap, although i think a set of bushwhacker flares with low offset wheels would be a smart choice, this is crap can racing.

i'm really with jackasic on this one, its kinda not fair to penalize just one car in this zx2 incident, we've all been in some crazy 8 car wide 3 deep disaster before with no major contact, and its way fun, but when one NDA in a miata cuts off an escort, resulting in escort on roof, Lemons is subjective, but i think putting the victim in time-out for a year while everyone else, including the person clearly at fault still gets to have recess is a bit unfair, but this is not my sandbox, but i'm just voicing my opinion, and if you don't want to hear it, you can easily use your "mouse" device to "scroll down" and stop reading, so don't whine about it if you read it, or post about how much the wheels on a $500 crap can stuck out, thats just....dumb.  remember guys, this is Lemons, NOT (insert real racing here)

I was driving in my car a few cars back from that mess. The zx3 guys are "friends" of ours, and we have raced with them several times. Hell, I welded the tops of their cage that wasnt done in the pits friday morning.

You can defend the " its $500, whatever is cheap" deal all day long, but the fact of the matter is, they ordered those wheels with that offset on purpose, and then had to cut their fenders to keep them from eating the tires.  The other thing about it is, there are other cars out there with tires sticking out, but they are careful NOT to hit or get close to hitting anyone, and they didnt flip.

I hate that Chuck is out for the year. I hate that they have to either rebuild or start over with their car. It sucks for them.

What I dont feel bad about is the fact that they have a very aggressive attitude on the racetrack. They make holes between cars where there isnt one, and dont mind giving you a tap if you are close to them. I locked up all 4 in the bus stop on this same lap when they divebombed me, and then they played bumpercars with some of the other cars as they moved on in front of me, including the Miata that you are placing all the blame on.

They were in a group that were dead set on doing something stupid. I held back and let them go on ahead of me since we are in an ENDURANCE race, and there is no need to trade paint at all, and since it is against the rules, I will avoid contact whenever possible. The bottom line of the whole deal, it isnt a sprint, and they were driving like it was. Maybe they will calm down and drive a bit cleaner after this.

What about cases of purely mechanical rolls, like the RX7 at South Fall '09 (http://jalopnik.com/5358041/torqueless- … -side-down).  Did they get the ban?
