Topic: Wheel Offset/Poke?

We are building a  VW rabbit that we would like to use Aero racing wheels on. the 13" wheels have an offset that puts the wheel/tire around 1-2" outside of the stock fender flares. i do not see anything in rules about this ...or maybe i missed it.

is this allowed?

Re: Wheel Offset/Poke?

you will need to flair the fenders to cover them.

If you look through the videos for last year you'll see a car flip from having their wheels come in contact because they were had wheels poking out.

Ditto. We had the tires sticking out on the Mini about 2" up front and Jay made us fab up some wheel arches and ended up using an oil catch tray to make 'em. We liked them so much we've kept them on rather than replace them with something fancier.

Here is the thread with the escort flipping and why they want to make sure your wheels don't stick out

There are books out there that explain what happens when you do what you are thinking of doing..
If you read about scrub radius you'll see that what you think you are gaining you aren't, what you are doing is  likely to increase the chance of part failure.. But hey, if you like the look. Go for it!

Re: Wheel Offset/Poke?

Plus you might have a difficult time finding good and LeMons-legal tires in that size. If you were running autocross Hoosier slicks, no problem, but that won't fly in this series.

I was in the car that took that video.  Trust me, this is NOT something you want to see or experience first-hand.

Cover them tires, boy-o!
