By the way, if we find out which team sliced the Pimpala's seat harness... well, the perps aren't going to like the special punishments we have in store for them at the next race. Anyone know who did it?
I can actually say that no one on team Trailing Throttle Oversteer was anywhere near the seat harness. Our mechanic was on the passenger side of the car, near the back, and was smaking the rear quarter panel and rear passenger door, oh, and here a picture to prove it. Johnny is the one in the yellow glasses, gray T-shirt, and groovy sideburns, with a yellow handled sledge hammer.
Sorry about the seat harness, and yea, whoever did it is a real dick.

I looked through my pics cause I was standing just behind it and I couldnt see that anyone on the drivers side of the car did it. The only guy who was there was in the window of the car was trying to pop the hood. Thats all I have pics of as well. Its very possible the cutter came in through the passenger side since the door was ripped off fairly quickly. JMO...
<--- Guy with the 6' length of pipe. We will look though our pictures and video and see if it's obvious.

i was in front there trying to inflict some damage/avoid getting thwomped in the head by sledge hammers when a guy with cutting pliers excused himself past me and went to town on the harness. i'd probably recognize him, but damned if i knew what team he was on
that was a crappy move though
I have some footage too, I will review.
This is sort of a curse of the curse: an angry mob of photographers going for the worst guy in the angry mob of tool wielders going for the worst guy in a mob of drivers. Seems LeMony.
I think it's easy to eliminate anyone wielding only a hammer-type thing. cutters, axe (maybe) had to be the culprit.

Definitely was cutters of some sort, maybe tin snips, the belts were cleanly cut, youd have to have an axe you could shave with to do that LOL.
Great idea for the curse! It really gives it back to the people and hammer-wielding mob.
Something looks familiar about the Pimpala. I think i've seen the faux whitewalls, the giant Lincoln grill and the leopard-skin landau top, but I just can't seem to place it... Was the team wearing pimp and ho suits? That would really help jar my memory.

Yeah, we may have seen Lemons pimps before.
I was really feeling bad for these guys until I found out they were theme-stealers. Combine theme stealing and track-driving-douchery and maybe they deserved to have their wire harness cut. Probably not the seat harness though, that's just dickish.
I was in the car when the harnesses got cut. I was shocked really. I was yanking out the heater control unit (harmless right) with the crowbar i had and this sketchy dude come in on the drivers side and snips all the harnesses like he had done it a million times. Then he was gone. I was shocked. I didnt really like that car but thats not part of the car I think you should hurt. There has to be a video of it somewhere.
When it surfaces, nail the bastards!
Yeah, not cool. I think i would have taken out my belts/seat before getting the curse tho.
and the team next to us, nutjob racing borrowed our snap-on dikes, not sure if they would make it through seat harness tho. I'm sure they'd make it through wiring harness. So, they are a culprit as of now.
Cutting the wiring harnesses was allowed. It was cutting the seat harness that was wrong.
I don't think those dikes would have made it through the seat harnesses IMO
Trashing the cheap part of the car, fine. Trashing the stuff that will be transferred to the next Lemons car (e.g., seat harnesses), totally wrong.

Nylon is very easy to cut. Dikes would easily cut trough harness material.
Ok, I saw they guy and we did two things that might help:
1. he came in through the drivers door window
2. cut the belts with something that looked like chain cutters.
He did it SUPER fast too. If someone is looking through videos, it was before the pass side front fender got ripped off I think. I was in the wife beater and gold chain. The guy did it while i was trying to get the radio out (was too hard so I yanked the heater controls). After I got it out, I slammed it on the roof and smashed it (it whent flying into crowd. Sorry if it hit someone). Look for that scene and you might see the guy. He had snippers of some kind.
like this?
If so, it's might be same guy who hit the alternator wires.

Right in the beginning of the video, he is holding them above his head...
Hold the farking phone...
I was definitely the one with the bolt cutters and I definitely attempted to attack the car in two places during the Curse, under the hood from the driver side and behind the front driver side wheel while lying on the ground. See post 21: http://forums.24hoursoflemons.com/viewtopic.php?id=700
In the minutes leading up to the curse, I even discussed my surgical plan with a random sledge hammer wielding guy just below the shack where Jay made his PA announcements. Part of the discussion involved immediately rolling the car onto its roof to allow access to the car's soft underbelly (before Jay told us we could not lift the car).

LOL you look like you're workin on the railroad in that video.
I saw the cut belts and they had a clean continuous cut, I cannot imagine bolt cutters like those that Rob posted making cuts like this in nylon belts. I've cut many a lock and chain with those and they don't make cuts like I saw in the belts.
