So what is the final Car count for CMP. I will be sharing the track with how many other teams?
Also is there a approved track configuration? I am trying to get a new driver on the team ready for the event. Thus letting him know what to expect.. IE what videos to watch on youtube.
RE The last CMP event running the 1/2 track. OR to watch some Spec e30 videos where the full track is used.Any on have the answers?
Thanks
I just emailed Nick off board so hopefully he'll reply. They raced the full track at B-Willow but CMP is faster and has that nice long straight which may make Jay pucker up his (you know what).

I agree I know from people who race at CMP on the full track that it will eat brakes. But the track that the last race was ran on for CMP was great and really didn't have a lot of problems with it. Just what ever they do no chicane like the 2008 CMP race.

The part that Lemons has raced on in the past is the brake killing portion. The other end of the track is more open and has longer straights between turns. Think about coming into turn 11 (the only left hander) at 100+ mph for 14 hours
edit: Got my turn #'s mixed up

Sweet! Bring it on!! We love our brakes!
CMP as last run was just dandy... so long as there are no more freakin tire barriers like last year I'm happy.
On the full course #11 the left hander would be difficult. But there is an area between 9 and 10 to slow the cars down..
I would be ok with a BIG opening AKA 2 car wide barrier in that area, To allow the complete course to be used.

I love the full course, but there are a couple of problems with running it. One is the back straight speed as mentioned, and I hate a damn chicane so I'd rather run the short course with no chicane.
Second problem, towing logistics. If there is a problem in T8 the tow truck will take twice as long to get there (and back) which equals less actual 'racing'. BTW, you can get goinf pretty fast between T7 and T8 since it's straight and downhill.
Third, the back half of the course is full wooded so the spectators can only see the portion that we ran on in the past.
I'll run whatever course, but did I mention I really hate a chicane?!
I hate the chicane also. But if it were wide enought for 2 cars then i think it would be managable.
RE the towing cars in.. Good point there. I could see that being an issue. Unless a 2nd tow truck stays out on that side of the track. If that is even an option?
I just dont want the 1st day to be like driving in Rush hour for 8 hours.
were you there in April this year? it won't be like that...there is plenty of room.
110 cars. it will be worse that last spring.. about 30 cars? More?

16 more, ohhh the horror.
That many will probably drop out within the first 10 laps.
and that's assuming all 110 even show up. it will be fine.
anyway, if it's too crowded, i won't complain if you decide to sit out for a few hours to let things loosen up.
True didnt take into accoutn the No shows..
But after attending the 1st CMP and watching the Tuna team literaly build the car onsite on Friday.. who knows they may all be there.
For some reason I thought there were only 76 cars last time.. 16 more I can deal with..
Hammer.
Grab a Webber 32/36 carb and intake kit off a BMW 2002 as a spare.
In case you cant get the FI fixed. The webers will work.. youll also need a generic electic fuel pump.. 2 to 4 psi.

If I am not mistaken, there were 96 cars but quite a few, including us Lab Rats that did not even take the green flag. If that happens to us this year, feel free and come by the Lab Rats pit and drink a beer with me. Hell, I may need to borrow a few if we have a repeat performance.
We went through our brakes completely this time around so our ColtE should stop on a dime, for a little while at least. I cannot wait for another 10 days!
Is anyone else planning on showing up on Thursday?
We decided against the T45 5 speed install on the Mark VIII. We have everything but the yoke, which should be here anytime, but we are too close to race time to wanna have to put the auto back in if it doesn't work properly. Besides, we have to keep it under budget, and we haven't sold our 4R70W auto yet. However, we gutted nearly 400 lbs out of the car, and fixed (we hope) the suspension, so hopefully it will be much faster than before. It will also be nearly unrecognizeable with its new bodywork and theme.
