Maybe you're misunderstanding how it worked at Autobahn, then... You still pit at your paddock. But if you have a paddock spot close to track exit and/or entrance, you only have to drive a short distance. If you have a paddock spot out in the back 40, you have to drive all the way out there, do your service and then drive all the way back to the track entrance.
What the other fella is proposing is that he wouldn't be surprised to see Autobahn enforce a paddock route that took you out past all the other cars before you got back to the track entrance. But in two races so far they haven't done that.
Could be because they are usually sharing the paddock with Autobahn club members who are racing on the other half of the "full" track.
