Or I'll just bring 746 and take my chances...
KT
trekkor,
we are going to start on our suspension this coming week...how do we adjust front ride height with the torsion springs?
There is an adjuster nut on the end of the torsion tubes.
If you need more lowering ( and you will ), lift the car, remove the adjuster and index it for more lowering.
The stock torsion bars are worth keeping.
Go as low as you can and put spacers under the steering rack to correct bump steer issues.
KT
picked up a bump steer correction kit for .99 on ebay!
sent you an email regarding another 914 question thanks for the help!
Alright trek, you've dragged me over to the dark side. My teener project just went maniacally low cost and I'm commin for ya. I think I'm gonna go with an NA 8v watercooled VW engine. We'll see how much I can wring out of it.
Good stuff.
KT
I think I might have a place to build mine...
It will be outrageous.
Stay tuned.
KT
Here's one I can get for a case of beer...
KT
What kind of 911/TR7/RX-7 body-kit monstrosity is that?
In other words, great Lemons car, and totally worth a case of beer.
They called it a 'Challon'...
KT
I hate that body kit...
I'll probably end up getting it.
KT
That's a horrible, hideous monstrosity, and it is absolutely imperative that you get it and turn it into a Lemons car.
Yeah, much better choice than an Escort. Do it!
I think you need to stay with the air cooled engine. I think (Know) it buys you more points on the IOE and Organizers Choice. Of course a creative swap would too.
I know for a fact that the five speed with a 2.0 motor would make you a very tough competior, if you can keep it running. Dillo (VW fast back) at Gator Rama last fall was a 2.0 type 4 motor out of a vangon. It blew our doors off we were running a slightly modified used 1600. If they had an extra gear they would have been top ten before they crashed. I think if you had a 2.0 motor, the 5 speed, good drivers, a good pit strategy, and larger fuel cell, you would be a top 10 finisher easily. Sounds like you have the parts connections already... Im so all over any air cooled cars....
Keep us posted there may be some other 914 projects lurking out there
Good luck...
It would be fun to use this...
KT
I might go look at the "Deadhead" 914 on Sunday.
KT
What's wrong with the "Challon" car? Come on, that thing is perfect for Lemons!
It's also an option, but it's in L.A.
I don't mind going down to get it.
The 'Deadhead' car is in the Modesto/Manteca area.
( where my replacement ZX2 transmission is )
I also may have a place to store/work on the 914 in Modesto...
