Re: expected mpg

03 Dodge dulley w/cummins Pgh  to barber & back, towing a 26' enclosed trailer fully loaded 11.5 mpg @ 65-70 when not going up hills, then it was as fas as it could pull (55?)  93 Surberban w/454, 34' camper 10 mpg average. Same Surberban pulling open car trailer 14 mpg. Dodge pulling open trailer average 15 mpg.

It Ain't My Fault

Re: expected mpg

I don' know nuthin' 'bout trailers and such.

But... this page had something interesting. Maker of semi truck trailer aero devices says 75% of the aero drag on those trucks is created by the trailer - 25% at the gap between truck and trailer, 25% at the back, 25% air coming in under the trailer, 25% by the truck.

More info here... http://www.atdynamics.com/trailertail/ (I am not a paid endorser - I only play a truck driver on TV)

Re: expected mpg

04 titan I use (my patents...) Actually gets better milage with my little 18' open trailer and compact then with no trailer.

14 with nothing
15-18 with trailer

Think might have something with the tow mode setting... Or cause it's mostly highway/interstate to the tracks lol

Re: expected mpg

Have enough money in your pocket for 8mpg and celebrate any change you have left after the trip.

Re: expected mpg

$2500 craigslist 2002 e350 7.3
$1000 in repairs to pass va inspection
36' enclosed trailer tipping 21k on the scale loaded with sputnik "racecars" = 8mpg.

The powerstroke 7.3 gets 8mpg whatever the size of your enclosed. Closer to 10 with a flat bed.
