Topic: "Bowed Out" X side bars
Would 'bowed' outward X side bars on the drivers-side be allowed? NOT the NASCAR-type bars - I know those are fine.
I have example pix but I cannot seem to figure out how to attach....

I have seen several styles of bowed X door bars in LeMon's.
I'm not a fan of X style, but that said, if I HAD to run with them I would not have them intersect, I would bow one around the other then connect them with a taco shell or similar. This way you will have two full bars the entire door span.
Just my $.02
You'll be alright. Also consider a vertical element to tie the middle of the X down to the floor or door jam. Could be helpful if you were to ever be T-boned.
You might consider running a straight bar from the front down tube to the main hoop down low just above the door jam and tie the "X" to that as well.
I run a bowed out drives bars in the TT the car is small and tight to get in and out. The two bar bow out all the way in to the outer door skin. Passed Lemon and Champ many times
Any feed back on these X bars

They look a little low IMO, while the rules say min gap I see alot of cage builders making it right at that number. In my experience its always much greater than whatever the minimum distance of separation is. I like to make them level with my thighs at least. Im not sure what these look like from the side with someone sitting inside
Thanks for your comments Nopantsdougie!
Our first car, and we came to the height to help with entry and exit on the driver side.
Our thought was if there was an emergency, we thought to cheat it lower for easier exit.
VW beetle?
With side bars just think about a Crown Vic hitting you broadside in the doors. Would it protect you?
It's a balance between being able to get out quickly and easy and not being crushed by a crown vic.
