What, no Datsun F10 or 310 on that list?

I think you’ll wait a bit for a Maser Khamsin. I’ve a yen for one and was surprised to get outbid to the tune of 50k last time I went looking and that was summer 2020…

F-10 is there. We almost had one. Cheap, cheap too. It was listed for a few months at a time before it ever sold.

B-Body Magnum with Magnum Wagon part grafted on.

Re: Lemons Wish List - Everything Eric Has On a List

I have been close to enabling about 20 things on this list and we lose out on it at the last minute or seller changes mind or other person I am trying to enable changes mind, etc. I am always looking.
Plus, I have a handful more on my list that aren't on this list.

Given the creativity and self-abuse among the Lemons community, I am surprised many of those have not yet been in Lemons.

Yeah, this is by no means a complete list. For example:

* I'm now realizing there are a ton of K-Car models we've never had (Dodge 400/600/Aries, Plymouth Caravelle, Proper-K-Car Chrysler LeBaron).

* There are tons of 1950-1972 models we could list that we figure are likely priced way out of Lemons' territory for now. That said, I don't think we'd bat an eye at a basketcase '57 Chevy or '68 Charger. Especially if it had a Honda K24 in it.

* Some of the exotic stuff like the Maseratis or a Ferraris would have to be absolutely Lost Cause territory and found in a storage facility—exactly the way the Aston Martin was found, FYI. Even then, there's probably a better financial case to flip them for parts cars so we would be happy to get a Dodge Avenger wrapped in crusty Khamsin body panels.

Yes, several dating back to the Altamont.days  I wouldn't deem any of them as successful however.

You know the Caravelle would have to be done in a Carvel Ice Cream/Fudgie the whale theme.

So Eric, what's the official rule on re-skinning/body-swap type modifications?  I was under the impression that was no longer an option (thank you Speed-U-Cop) because non-OEM crush zones.  What's allowed, and what ain't?

CIMARRON!
t has been on my list since the very first day I made a list. I wonder how many of those were on that Cash For Clunkers list that showed up the other day. I should look.
That list might be interesting to cross-reference for cars that are on want lists, cars that have never run Lemons, cars that have done well in Lemons, etc.
Even though one has been attempted, I don't think the one or three or zero laps it finished should count against a Chrysler/Maserati TC.
I see Malibu Maxxs all the time. Way more than you would think in CA. Those could be made fast after the first, awful attempt. I like the idea of running a Maxx in a race with another team in a Kaliber and another team with an E36ti and another with 78 Olds Cutlass Salon all painted the same for the weird rear styling team.
I would also like to run with all of the teams that have already brought things from my original list...Frogface Valiant, 80s Imperial, Mirada, etc. I need to work on that.

Well, that's a good question and it makes sense you'd be the one asking it. It's really case-by-case and Pagel or Jay retains the final say, but the general idea is that you don't cut away original unibody. Reskinning with fender sheet metal probably doesn't make huge changes to the crumplezones, in general. You might be able to swap front and rear clips (not just bumper cover). Subframe swapping seems generally fine as long as you're putting in a subframe.

Long story short: If you're gonna swap body panels, at least shoot a note to Pagel and Jay outlining what you plan to do.

Fun story - we were on our way home from Gingerman in 2015 - the year the guys first ran the Honda Del Sol that eventually became the Calvin and Hobbes Wagon and eventually the Oreo Speedwagon. We were so impressed by their first outing that we started searching Craigslist on our way home. There was a manual Lincoln LS in Columbus for $600 but it was gone when we got home. We ended up with our Mark VIII, but it was the almost-could-have-had-it LS that turned us on to the Lincoln theme.

Re: Lemons Wish List - Everything Eric Has On a List

I bought a manual LS but I only got it for the drivetrain so once I pulled out what I needed I dumped the rest.  Interestingly at one time Phil said he wanted to see an LS.  When I told him I had one and what class would he put it in, he told me B because it was the Duratec V6 and manual.  This thing was super clapped out, would require spending some money to make it safe to be on a track and it would have been futile to run it in B so I continued on with the original plan and pulled the drivetrain to go into another car.  If someone does get one, it's a big heavy car that should be in C.  I can maybe see B if it was a V8.

The chassis seems like it's ok, but yeah: They're heavy and the V8 is automatic-only like the S-Type and Thunderbird. Ed White's '03 Thunderbird is plenty quick, but the transmission is prone to overheating. They kind of have to drive it to the transmission's temp gauge.

In theory, the Duratec/5-Speed combination would be pretty solid, but I think I'd put it in C unless someone had totally overbuilt it.

I see the Chevy Spectrum on the list.  Has the Chevy Sprint ever been done?  How about Chevy Nova circa '86-'88, especially the twin cam?

I'll be happy to run in 'B'.  But if Tech decides we're 'A' I am not going to cry.  I am looking forward to my first Lemons weekend.

We've been running the car since 2016 in Chump & LD... only one weekend without a mechanical failure so far.  I'm expecting some time behind the wall as always so our results won't be special whatever class they dump us in.
