Re: Thanks to the non-whining Texans

We all had a great time on our team.

We didn't expect to win ( and didn't even come close ) but we came with the intention of enjoying ourselves and we succeeded in doing that.

It was a pleasure to drive the pace ambulance and we will all be back for more Lemons fun.

We had no PUY flags but I agree it would be nice to know for certain what the flag rules were since I had MANY cars blow past while I was pretty damn sure the yellow was out where I was having had either just passed a yellow flag / spun car or could see a yellow right in front of me.

Your team was fun and were in good spirits even after backing up on track.  Thanks for the industrial wrap and the show.

I found the video of Tommy doing that and showed it to him.   He still claims he doesn't remember...

I'm adding a reverse lockout for the next race smile

"This is the scene where I get shot," Bronson said. "I have these little squibs that explode to make it look like bullets are hitting." "Fascinating," said Bergman. "I never knew how they did that." "You mean," asked Bronson, "you don't use machine guns in your movies?"

Re: Thanks to the non-whining Texans

I thought the flagging was very fair and probably the best I've seen thus far. Thanks again for an awesome event.

anyway it was a big confusing flagging but we got it down by the end of the weekend.

l also felt the flags were fair and the Judges were understanding. We had a huge problem with traction in the rain.
Sunday I made the mistake of putting 2 different kinds of tires on the car. The Toyos were in the front and did ok in the rain. but the Hankooks  on the back Sucked..  we had a great deal of trouble keeping the back end planted. Yea I am blaming it in the tires and have ordered tires with a better WET traction rating for the future events.
Because of the tires mix we spun - slid 2 times on sunday resulting in Black flags. The judges were very fair and I was happy with the verdicts.
I really enjoyed the track and the atmosphere. The food was great, the drivers were giving each other room on the track. If it wasnt for the 18 hour drive from Florida I would do it again. We ran 3 CMP races in the past 2 years and the car received some sort of body damage. At MSR we had no damage, a first. But then there was an extra 1.2 miles of track over CMP.

What car were you in. We probably got some good shots if you spun in "Sugar and Spice"...

Re: Thanks to the non-whining Texans

Was anybody around me when I went through gut check (T15) and slapped back and forth 120* all the way to the launch? I wish we had that on video. lol

I've ran on MSRH in the rain plenty of times, but that was exponentially worse. The rain never came hard enough, coupled with the higher than average oil content of the asphalt...

Re: Thanks to the non-whining Texans

The only flag station I had trouble picking up was the one in the carousel.  As a result, I wound up approaching that corner like it had a flag out on many occasions "just in case".  No big deal, it really didn't bother me that much other than that I was probably confusing a lot of people behind me.  I'd also try to sneak a peek at it as I was driving through the bus stop and onto the back-stretch... but that's a poor solution b/c there's a fair bit of driving and time that will elapse before you actually get around there.

I'm not sure what the rules for where a flag is displayed w/in the gazeebo are, but it -seemed- like when a flag was showing there, it was being stuck out towards the middle of the corner, such that you really couldn't even see it as you were coming down the straight that leads into it... especially when one of the workers in the station was standing behind the worker holding the flag.

If the flag was stuck out of the side of the gazeebo where you could see it coming down the straight before the carousel, I think it would've caught a lot less people off guard.

I'm not faulting the people doing the flagging there, heck, for all I know they were told to stick the flag out towards the middle of the corner vs. the entry.

I just personally -think- it makes more sense to stick it out the side for visibility well before corner entry.  There may be a good reason it's not done that way (which is why I'm posting, to get a clarification if need be).

Not trying to sound like a whiner... no one on my team got a PUY, so we obviously could see the flags well enough.

Thanks to the flaggers for doing the work all weekend too!... I waved and 'thumbs-up'ed all of y'all on the cool-down lap after checkers, you make the race possible!

Re: Thanks to the non-whining Texans

Since someone called me the Segway Judge and asked how long it took me to learn to ride it, my answer was "5 minutes"  A monkey did it in 10 minutes, my sister took 20 minutes.

Here is the video you requested of a monkey on a sgeway, enjoy.
