BOOBIES !!!!

It's fine that usedcar is copying the $500 car thing, but competing with the Gingerman race schedule is just bad taste.  And then the same in September competing with ChumpCar @ Putnam.

Drive more, type less.

Yeah, but they likely got last choice of race dates since they were late to the table.  With the number of Lemons and Chump races this year, it tough not to overlap.

There are a few weekends that are open that do not create back-to-back situations with established crap can racing:

Chump has only had a few events so saying they are "established" is kind of a stretch.

Chump more or less copied Lemons and released their schedule before Lemons.

Now the two have conflicts.

I can not get enough drivers for all the Lemons events in the Gulf Coast area let alone trying to do either of the Chump races around here.

There seem to be more races than dollars to go round in our area now.

Re: full 24 hour race

Funds are definitely an issue. I actually have 2 base drivers and 3 rotating drivers because of Funds. We are doing 2 of each series this year, so 4 races total and I actually only charge the team members for the consumables. Example the new car we are building I am paying for the car, cage and safety equipment. But I am also making the car street legal. I would like to have the car as my own to drive, so by funding it, the problem is solved.
Those that help with the build are alway given the 1st option to drive at the races, if they pass then I go to the drivers that have not assisted with the oringinal build of the car.
We are really hoping the Lemons Dec event turns out to be a true 24 hour race. I am just concerned that it might be a little tough on an Aircooled engine. I guess we will have the 11.5 hour Sebring Chump event to test the engine in Sept.

Now I am going to have to go read the lighting rules. Since I have yet to run a car that needed lights.

EuroTrash E30 - Lemons South 08 (cooling probs) 24th /CMP  Spring 09 (fuel tank damage) one day on track 69th /Lemons South 09 (Hit by an Escort) 27th
MSR Tx, 10 2oth, no issues other than rain. /CHump Homestead Miami 10- 2nd place.

Re: full 24 hour race

South Florida in December can be hit an miss for temps. Also PBIR has a very long straightaway and is fast all around. Depening on what Jay and crew ask of the PBIR guys there may be some lights on as the track has the capability to be fully lighted by permanent lights. Track surface is only around 3 years old now so tire wear should be half way decent. Also a note to everyone if they do not have fuel at the track do not get it at the station closest to the track as they tend to have a very high ethanol content and that fuel does seem to have more water in it than the stations back in town.(know from experience of working 3 24 hr kart races at PBIR/Moroso)

Also paddock is the opposite side of the track as compared to the pits.

Funny enough, I have zero interest in running a 24 hour race.  Personally I love the 2 day format that Lemons runs.   Tech on Friday, party that night, race on Saturday, party that night, race on Sunday, go home.   A perfect weekend.

the biggest drawback to a full 24 hour race as i see it, is no cold adult beverage and a Cuban as I traditionally enjoy once i'm done with my stint.  so yes i see your point bro.

i'll let you know how i feel about it after the Chump event at VIR.  that is if they pull enough entrants to run a full 24.

So yes, less drinking at a true 24 hour race.  And I love me a good drink.

But I have to say, nothing - NOTHING - can compare to hauling a RWD fox body mustang / capri hybrid down the back straight at 111mph at 2am.  In the wet.  I work crazy hours, so I'm used to being up from midnight - 8a.  That meant I got the "worst" shift from 2a - 4a.  I loved it.  The course felt like butter.  I couldn't see sh!t.  Cars spun and swerved and did all sorts of crazy bad things in front of me.

It's still one of my most treasured memories.

The Judges say that NL had some crazy management sheenanigans going on, and that a return is unlikely.  That's sad, but I can live with it... as long as Lemons still offers full 24 hour races.

Which they do.  Live on Lemons!
