I can confirm that. And the photo of Jay Lamb on the rear license plate valence didn't earn them any mercy in the penalty box, either. Cheers guys, see you at Eagles Canyon.

I am sure... did Jay make a person note of it or was it up to judicial representation?!

That looks way too nice to be a Lemons car.  This is what a Lemons car is supposed to look like:

will their cage pass with the rear diagonals that low?  seems like the load path if it went over while traveling forward would encourage the front downbars/top of hte cage to go into the slightly reclined position

You all realize that you're looking at the former Big Easy 914, which finished 90th at the last Arse Freeze, right? And that it will be even slower, now that 150 pounds of Bondo and weird junkyard body parts have been added?

It might be best to save your Cheaty McCheaterson accusations for E30s, SE-Rs, and the like. Not saying we won't go over this car pretty closely during the BS inspection, but there'd be no way to hide the cheats necessary to make a 914 dominate a Lemons race.

I helped with the original build of that car, and I got to drive it at Thunderhill.  That thing is such a legitimate $500 914 that it's scary.  When we put the roll cage in, we found that one of the frame rails (under the battery box) was made of chicken wire and Bondo.  Seriously.  We patched everything up, and with the heavy-duty roll cage it's got to be pretty solid structurally, but it was sobering to poke at the car with a screwdriver and see pieces fall off, and realize that I was going to race it.
It does have a few hot-rod parts on it, but that's because the previous owner had installed them.  Between that and its transformation into a LeMon, it had sat in someone's yard for about 10 years.  Oh, and the hot-rod rear sway bar just made it spin too easily, so it was taken off.
The transformation from 914 to 908/3 was done mostly with Bondo, but the front fenders are from a 924-- well within budget.
Of course, the EASY guys probably spent so much time on the body that they never bothered to replace the shifter bushings... wink

Oh yeah, he was standing right there looking at it. And then the team pointed it out to him as he was looking at it. And then he said something along the lines of, yeah, I see it, but so what?

And then they got some scrivener's revenge penalty or some such.

You could always try to incorporate the reest of the Done-To-Death Themes into your car.  Either the judges will love it and get a good laugh out of it or hate it and you will get the most penalty laps ever.

Re: Officially Done-To-Death Themes, Part CVII: Gulf Oil GT40

You know, scoring the most penalty laps ever would give us a certain amount of coolness. wink We'd be so good, we'd be bad.

Seriously though, we have the only Ford Escort with the paint job, and even though there was a 914 with the paint job, it still fits. Now if we showed up with a Bob Sharp or BRE paint job, that just wouldn't make any sense what so ever, but then it could be brilliant since this race is all about not making sense.

I think 500 laps is a bit harsh since other cars are out there without needing a theme change after 2 races. Perhaps we should just paint the thing orange and call it the "Orange Peel Monster" seeing as its paint job has so much texture that it doubles as sand paper.

Just stay away from Minnesota Vikings themed cars and you'll do fine.

Seriously, I'll pour gas all over it, light a match AND sleep well that night.

On paint schemes, a lot of the cars rolling up to tech look way too nice to be Lemons cars.  Fresh paint, stright body panels, etc.  Then after the race starts you go "Oh! those are really crapheaps."  The paint can throw you off.  smile
