Re: Miami FL New years.

Wow! I thought we were nuts for driving 1,400 miles from Michigan to race our POS around a track for 24 hours but we have a trailer. You guys take the cake! You guys did a great job a Summit and hope that cage is still holding up. I don't know how our crappy E30 does in the snow and don't want to find out on I-75 somewhere in Ohio. See you guys down there.

Re: Miami FL New years.

We are still debating Miami, we will decide before October.  But initially everyone wanted to do it.  Then the realities of a 20 hour tow (twice), the gas money, the costs of the trip right on the heels of Christmas, etc all set in.  So we'll see.

Re: Miami FL New years.

Word of advice for everyone in this race from past experience at this track and racing there. Do avoid the Shell station just down from the track as the gas there seems to be questionable. We had problems with the fuel there for the 3 years we ran there with karts and it seems to really make your mileage go down along with seeming to have water in the fuel.

Re: Miami FL New years.

I'd love to hear if the track lights will be on.

Also, we may be able to tow a vehicle from the Boston area (or anywhere along the route down) if anyone needs their car transported.

We did 18 hours from FL to Tx.. it was worth to do once, but we did it in 2 days.  So the hotel and fuel costs were high.
But I dont know if Id do it again now with all the events in Ga.. and Fl..

To me the concept of running over New Years eve is the Cool factor..

EuroTrash E30 - Lemons South 08 (cooling probs) 24th /CMP  Spring 09 (fuel tank damage) one day on track 69th /Lemons South 09 (Hit by an Escort) 27th
MSR Tx, 10 2oth, no issues other than rain. /CHump Homestead Miami 10- 2nd place.

That's what our problem is. 2 days to get there and 2 back. Plus 3 days of racing equals 7. Then you want to visit places in Miami and the Keys another 7 days. WTH? You only live once and who knows if Lemons would be back next year.

Can we get a yea or nea on this?  I would REALLY LOVE IT if the track lighting is to be used.  To be honest I have no idea why you would run at a track with light and not use them.  If it cost more (entry fees) so be it.

Re: Miami FL New years.

Norther California based driver, seriously thinking about driving in Miami.

My current team (Team Stim Pack) has opted not to race the December Buttonwillow race. So I'm kind of shopping for an arrive and drive oportunity this fall/winter, and MIAMI for New years would be AWESOME.

I have the frequent flier miles to get to MIA, I have the cash, I have the gear, and I'm a good mechanic- Team Stimulus Package won the most heroic fix award at Arse-Sweat-appaloza for 1 head swap, 1 oil pan gasket swap, 3 engine changes in 2 days.

I'll be watching the postings in Human Resources and watching my work schedule closely to see if I can commit, but I hope there are plenty of teams that decide to make the trip and race.

p.S. Race with out track lights at night. more dangerous, but more interesting.

You forgot the great corn!

Bummed to hear you won't be at Buttonwillow-- You made us (the 2 minis across the way) feel like we got LOADS of track time...

Seriously, convince the other team members to reconsider Buttonwillow.
