Re: 2011 New Racetrack Wish List

I love the "streets" idea of a small town (unlikely), but probable at some abandoned factory complex.....  I do know of an excellent facility in San Bernandino that would work great.....bummer is its owned by the Sheriff and they conduct all of their drivers training there

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q … amp;tab=wl

Its A on the above map....  take a look...the track is easy to spot since it says "EVOC" in big letters

Re: 2011 New Racetrack Wish List

my wish list is based on less towing of the car.
Watkins Glen
Nelson Ledges
BeaveRun
Mosport

I would love to try a dirt race. Kind of like on a rally cross track. I know our team could get 2 cars filled with drivers for something like that

Anyone put down Sebring or Watkins Glen yet?

Second for TWS though (lots of hours on that track)

Yea  Sebring.  We are running a Chump race there next week, but its only the Club track.. so none of the straights.

Also Road Atlanta.   that is a technical course. Where Brakes are really worked .

EuroTrash E30 - Lemons South 08 (cooling probs) 24th /CMP  Spring 09 (fuel tank damage) one day on track 69th /Lemons South 09 (Hit by an Escort) 27th
MSR Tx, 10 2oth, no issues other than rain. /CHump Homestead Miami 10- 2nd place.

Re: 2011 New Racetrack Wish List

well, being a newby, why don't all y'all come to the racing capitolf the world (Indy) and we'll do a biggie at ORP on the 2 1/2 mile road course!  Great facility, good food and Indy loves racers!  All the legends have run there...Foyt, Andretti, Unsers', Rutherford etc., etc.

then the racing would just be friday and saturday, as it always is wink

my vote for the motorcycle course at NHMS, or all 3 infield courses of Pocono strung together. you'd easily get 200+ cars to fit with room to spare. talk about chaos!

and +1 for ice race. however i think we should run studless snow tires, as they run in AMEC (icerace.com) in their street legal classes

I'd love to run at IRP (ORP -- can't get used to that). I fondly recall when Jaguar ran that XJ220-only race series there and Rutherford and Sneva those guys kept bending the expensive bodies since they were racing closed-wheel cars and they could smile (yeah, I grew up in Indy)

These guys wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they raced at a track with such easy access to racing parts shops. Break something and actually have someplace nearby that could supply you with a replacement Heim joint? Apostasy!

Seriously, racing at IRP would rock. We could do a Lemons triathalon. 8 hours on Saturday on the road course. Then turn on the lights on the oval track and do a series of 30 or 40 lap circle track races with cars grouped by class/alleged horsepower/weight. Then on Sunday morning, bracket races followed by a 3-hour road race finale for the cars that have survived all the different abuse. Lots more trophies for everyone (drags winner, circle track features winners, overall/combined, etc.) and more opportunities for mechanical mayhem.

Think that would be fun? smile

Wow no miller motorsports park? It would be fun on a 4.8 mile course having cars take 5 minutes for a lap, and who doesn't like beer with a lower percentage of alcohol?

Willow springs is definitely in for my vote, bonus points if horse thief mile happens, but that's just crazy talk.

MMP would be great except that with all of the offs our cars produce, nobody would ever be able to see where they are supposed to drive due to all the freaking dusty desert right next to the track. Have you noticed how they've covered the apex armco with freaking vertical dont-hit-me plastic things (like HOV dividers) to keep drivers from dropping a wheel on the inside of turns? Crazy.

You'd think our fabulous economy here (!) would be incentive enough to get them to (ahem) allow us to race there, but no.....
and shhhhh, don't tell anyone about the new Epic Brewing Co. just down the street!

Re: 2011 New Racetrack Wish List

Yeah, it sure would be nice to finally have a race where I didn't have to drive 12 hours to get there.

That and the facility is so clean, but maybe that's why they won't have us.

That's the nature of religious communities.. they profit from ownership of much of Vegas and Reno But don't get their own hands dirty.. You see Lemons isn't squeeky clean..

Re: 2011 New Racetrack Wish List

Lemons is about as wholesome as it gets in racing! I'd love to live and work in a world like a Lemons pit.... Don't know about current trends, but when I started short track in "pure stock" an on-track incident would often result in a fistfight in the pits, with much ungentlemanly language. Didn't see much helmet-throwing, mainly because it cost 30 bucks and if you cracked it, you'd have to Bondo/paint it to pass inspection next week. Drop-kicking a guy into the wall could result in a BF, unless you were popular, in the points chase, or had a cousin working in the hot dog stand, in which case you'd get sent to the back for the restart. The good old days? It's better now. Any sensible community should welcome this series.

Definitely Road Atlanta or Roebling Road Raceway, a private, rentable track in Savannah, GA

But really, just get a race in Georgia!! All the major interstates pass through Atlanta, and who doesn't love a Georgia Peach?

New tracks for Lemons?

NJMP - a good NE track.  Stafford blows.
VIR - awesome track, run any configuration and it's good.  North 1st, South 2nd.
Nelson Ledges again.

Daytona?

NJMP for sure!
VIR (any course), Nelson Ledges (that 24 hour race was awesome!), and Mid Ohio (you could do a 2 wide chicane on the back straight if needed).

Thoughts on BeaveRun?

BTW, WGI wouldn't work for Lemons. The judges would have nothing to do.  Any car going 2 or 4 off would be so smashed up that it would have to get towed to the penalty box.  smile

NJMP, NJMP, NJMP!  We're a new team, looking for a track close to Delaware (yes, Delaware) to attempt our first dabocle at!  Got a pair of '89 T-birds lined up, just waiting on the schedule to come out.

Hopeful team for 2011 season

NJMP would be nice.  If they do the Summit race again (and I really hope they do) maybe we would be able to do 2 races.

Texas. World.

TWS.

I've been on every road race track in Texas, and this one makes me smile the biggest. I would go to some pretty unreasonable extremes to make this race if it were on the calendar.
