Plea for help- Can't get it running... (Page 2 of 2)

We put everything back together today and checked the timing about 30 times in the process.  Aaaannnnddd....it runs!  Still rough and needs some tinkering but SO MUCH better.  Mechanic friend now thinks we need to adjust the valve gaps to get things running more smoothly but at least it runs.

I pointed out in the process that the oil pump driveshaft looked like it was one tooth off but they decided to try and get around that with the timing adjustment.  Surprise surprise, we do need to go back and fix that.
